Measuring For Pole & Track

We strongly encourage that you install your poles or tracks before measuring for curtains.

To figure out the length of pole/track you require we recommend you get a metal tape measure and measure to the outside of your window frame or window recess.  Now add 15 – 25 centimeters (6 – 9 inches) on either side.  So your window frame/recess width plus 30 - 50cm (12 - 18 inches) – this is the width you should request for your tracks/poles.  This should allow for your curtains to be drawn completely open without blocking any of your window.

Keep in mind when purchasing and installing poles you need some room for the finial (the decorative cap or bulb at the end of the pole).

Poles and tracks should be centred on your window frame/recess, with equivalent distance of pole or track on either side of the frame.  We suggest you install the pole/track 10 - 20 cm (4 – 8 inches) above the window frame. This should give your curtain enough room for an elegant heading and drop.

Remember when installing your poles or tracks to use a metal tape measure, a level and to mark where you’ll adhere braces to the wall before drilling into your wall.
